A simple chocolate & orange tart


  • Preheat oven to 180°C fan forced (200°C normal).
  • Gently melt the chocolate, cream and butter with the orange zest and juice over a double boiler.
  • Prick the pastry sheet all over using a fork. Then place it in a baking tray and cook in the oven for about 10 mins until golden brown.
  • Spread the marmalade over the top of the pastry and coat well with the melted chocolate mixture. Then set aside for about 40 mins at room temperature.
  • When ready, sprinkle with icing sugar, cut into quarters and serve with a good dollop of ice cream or whipped cream.
  • nb.  Individual tarts can be made.


  • 140 gm dark cooking chocolate
  • 150 ml thickened cream
  • 50 gm unsalted butter
  • grated rind & juice of 1 orange
  • 1 shortcrust pastry sheet
  • orange marmalade
  • icing sugar
