Bratislavian marinated beef steak

  • Whisk ½ cup oil with the juice of ½-1 lemon, the seasonings, paprika, rosemary and caraway seeds in a large bowl.
  • Add the steaks to the marinade, toss to coat well and set aside for about 30 mins.
  • Then seal the steaks in a hot pan on both sides. Then add the marinade and gently cook the steaks to the desired degree.
  • At the same time, heat a little oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and gently sauté the red onion, capsicums, ham and mushrooms with seasonings until softened, adding a little stock if you like as you do so.
  • Serve the steaks on a bed of the vegies with the sauce spooned over the top and a lemon wedge on the side.
