Steak Nicoise


  • Cook the potatoes in lightly salted, boiling water until tender, adding the beans for the last few minutes and cook until crisp-tender. Drain well. 
  • At the same time, cook the eggs for 7 mins in lots of boiling water. Then remove and plunge the eggs into cold water, before peeling and cutting into quarters. 
  • Cook the steaks to the desired degree on a preheated, lightly oiled ridged grill (or BBQ). Then set aside to rest for a few minutes. 
  • Gently toss the tomatoes, olives, potatoes, beans, eggs and anchovies with the oil, balsamic and ground pepper to taste. 
  • Serve the steaks with a good mound of salad on the side.

  • 4 x 200 gm steaks
  • olive oil spray
  • ½-1 punnet cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8-12 small olives
  • 4-6 anchovies, cut into pieces
  • a slurp of olive oil
  • a splash of balsamic vinegar
