Sausage & egg bake


  • Preheat oven to 180°C fan forced (200°C normal). 
  • Blanch the sausages in boiling water until firm to the touch. Then drain well and panfry in a little oil until golden. Drain and slice. 
  • Lay the bread in a lightly oiled baking tray, overlapping a little. Then scatter the sausage on top and sprinkle with grated cheese. 
  • Whisk the eggs with the milk and salt until well combined. Then pour this over the cheese, right into the corners, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (overnight is even better). 
  • When ready, cook in the oven for about 20-30 mins until set and golden brown.

  • 1½ cups grated tasty cheese
  • 6 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups low fat milk
  • a pinch of salt
