Steak with chorizo & pea mash


  • Cook the potatoes in a large pot of lightly salted, boiling water until tender, adding the peas towards the end. Drain well. 
  • At the same time, heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the chorizo, regularly stirring. 
  • Cook the steaks on a lightly oiled ridged grill or BBQ to the desired degree. Then remove and rest for a few minutes. 
  • Put the potatoes and peas back in the pot, together with the milk, butter and ground pepper to taste. Mash and then add the chorizo with any cooking oil. Mix well. 
  • Serve the steaks on a mound of the mash on individual plates with lemon wedges on the side.

  • 1 chorizo, diced

  • 4 x 180 gm steaks
  • a splash of milk
  • a good dollop of butter
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
