Croque Monsieur

Method

  • Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread with butter.
  • Then generously spread mustard on 2 slices, place the prosciutto on top and mound with the cheese.  
  • Put another slice of bread on top, press down firmly and butter both outer sides. Repeat the process. 
  • Cook in a sandwich press.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • softened butter
  • Dijon mustard
  • 4-6 slices prosciutto (or sliced leg ham)
  • ½ cup grated gruyere cheese
