Maple syrup glazed pork belly


  • Toss the pork with the sugar, 1 tbsp salt, ½ tbsp freshly ground pepper, the garlic and a little oil until well combined. 
  • Cook the pork in a large, preheated heavy-bottomed pan until sealed, continually stirring. Then turn the heat down, cover and gently cook for 5-10 mins, stirring now and again. 
  • While the pork is cooking, put the maple syrup, tomato sauce, apple sauce, lemon juice, chilli paste, garlic and seasonings in a pot. Stir well and simmer for 15 mins. 
  • Then pour the sauce over the pork, toss well and gently simmer for about another 10 mins. 
  • Serve with spring onions sprinkled on top and steamed rice on the side.

  • 2-3 spring (green) onions, shredded
