Ploughman's chutney


  • Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well and set aside for 2-3 days to develop the flavours.
  • Serve with cheese and good crusty bread.


  • 150 gm peeled, diced Granny Smith apples
  • 150 gm pitted dates, chopped
  • 150 gm sultanas
  • 150 gm brown sugar
  • 150 gm chopped onion
  • a good pinch of mustard powder
  • a pinch of ground cloves
  • a good pinch of ground cinnamon
  • sea salt & freshly ground pepper
  • 225 ml malt vinegar
