Potatoes au Gratin with sausage

  • Preheat oven to 200°-220°C fan forced (220°-240°C normal).
  • Blanch the sausages in boiling water until firm to the touch. Then drain well, slice on the diagonal and set aside.
  • Rub a gratin dish (casserole) with the garlic and smear with butter. Arrange a layer of potatoes and then sausages in the dish, one piece at a time. Season and top with some tasty cheese and a sprinkling of cream.
  • Then repeat the process, finishing with a good layer of tasty cheese, a little parmesan and a good amount of cream scattered on top. Cook in the oven until golden and tender when pierced with a sharp small knife. (Cover with kitchen foil if browning too quickly.)
  • Serve with a simple salad and good crusty bread on the side.
