Prawn Rarebits

Method

  • Preheat overhead grill to the highest degree.
  • Combine the melted butter and garlic in a small bowl. Set aside. 
  • Whisk the cream, mustard, Worcestershire and Tabasco in another bowl, and also set aside.
  • Slice the baguette in half and lightly toast the uncut side under the overhead grill.
  • Then generously brush the cut side of the bread with the garlic butter and top with a layer of prawns and cheese. Place on an oven tray, spoon the cream mixture on top and grill until golden brown and bubbling.

  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 2 large garlic cloves, crushed
  • ¼ cup cream
  • 1 heaped tspn Dijon mustard
  • a good splash of Worcestershire sauce
  • a few drops of Tabasco
  • 1 large baguette, cut into lengths
  • cooked small prawns, shelled & halved lengthways
  • grated tasty cheese
