Breakfast energy bars

Method

  • Preheat oven to 140°C fan forced (160°C normal).
  • Gently melt the butter, brown sugar and golden syrup in a heavy-bottomed pot.
  • Transfer the hot mixture to a large bowl and combine with the remaining ingredients.
  • Then spoon the mixture into a lightly oiled baking tin, press down to an even thickness and cook in the oven for 30-35 mins. Cool for 5-10 mins and then cut into slices.

  • 100 gm unsalted butter
  • 85 gm brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup
  • 100 gm hazelnuts, roughly chopped
  • 50 gm desiccated coconut
  • 140 gm porridge oats
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp linseeds, lightly crushed
  • cooking oil spray
