Real keen burgers


  • Preheat overhead grill to the highest degree.
  • Combine the mince, spring onions and egg with the chutney and seasonings until well combined. Then form the mixture into patties.
  • Heat a thin layer of oil in a large pan and cook the patties.
  • Toast the buns under the overhead grill on both sides.
  • Then smear tomato sauce on the base of each bun and top with a patty, the tomato and cheese. Place on the oven tray and grill until the cheese starts to melt. Then top with the lettuce, a dollop of mayonnaise and a little more tomato sauce.
  • Place the bun lid on top and enjoy!


  • 500 gm lean mince
  • 2-3 spring (green) onions, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp tomato chutney
  • sea salt & freshly ground pepper
  • vegetable oil
  • 4 burger buns, halved
  • tomato sauce
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 cheese slices
  • iceberg or cos lettuce leaves
  • mayonnaise
