Sweet orange noodles


  • Preheat overhead grill to highest degree.
  • Boil the orange juice and water until syrupy.
  • Add the dessert wine and Grand Marnier, together with the noodles and gently cook until the noodles separate.
  • Toss in the orange segments and then transfer the noodle mixture to a gratin dish (or casserole).
  • Sprinkle generously with icing sugar and cook under the overhead grill until glazed.
  • Serve with sour cream or whipped cream on the side.
  • nb. You can cut the noodles into 3 or 4 pieces for easier eating, if you like.


  • 3 cups fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup dessert wine
  • a good splash of Grand Marnier (or any orange liqueur)
  • 2-3 packets udon noodles
  • 2 oranges, segmented
  • icing sugar
