BBQ leeks with ham & gruyere


  • Preheat oven to about 200°C.
  • Blanch the leeks in plenty of boiling water until just tender. Drain well and barbecue or grill with a little oil.
  • Then roll each leek in ham and place in an ovenproof dish. Scatter cheese on top, sprinkle with a little cream and cook in the oven for about 15 mins until golden brown.
  • Serve as an entree or an accompaniment to a simple steak or fish dish.


  • 8 leeks, washed well

  • 8 fine slices ham on the bone
  • Gruyere cheese, grated
  • thickened cream
