Steamed baby fish with leeks & ginger


  • Mix together the spring onion, ginger, soy, mirin and oil.
  • Cut three slashes in each side of the fish and place on a plate (that can fit into a steamer). Then pour the sauce over the top and steam for about 6 mins.
  • Serve with your favourite green vegies and steamed rice on the side.


  • 1 spring (green) onion, finely sliced
  • a good knob of ginger, julienned
  • 2 tbsp salt-reduced soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin (Japanese rice wine)
  • ½ tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 baby plate-sized fish
  • ½-1 leek, julienned
