Anchovy & cheese straws

Method

  • Preheat oven to 190°-200°C. 
  • Lay the pastry sheets on a lightly floured bench and lay anchovies lengthways forming 3 lines on the pastry. Then top each line with a little cheese.
  • Mix together the egg and milk and brush between the anchovy and cheese lines.
  • Place another piece of pastry on top and press down firmly to seal (don't press down on anchovies). Carefully cut the pastry crossways into 2-3 mm wide straws.
  • Then place on a lightly oiled baking sheet, flat side down, with plenty of space between each strip.
  • Brush the tops with egg wash and cook in the oven for about 8 mins until risen and golden.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

  • plain flour
  • plenty of anchovies
  • grated tasty cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • olive oil spray
